Mermaids live in all waters of the world
Ice mermaids, live in cold waters and are built for survival and polar temperatures. These mermaids live in arctic regions. Ice mermaids prefer colder water temperatures. They are found near the poles, generally in salt water.
Deep-sea mermaids, sometimes known as Open-Ocean mermaids, live in the middle of the ocean and are built for survival and long-distance swimming. They do not come to the surface very often, but when they do, it is mainly to breathe. They live in the open ocean, and prefer temperate water temperatures
Tropical mermaids, sometimes known as Coral Reef mermaids, live in the tropics and are built for warm weather and a tropical environment. Tropical mermaids are found in tropical environments around the world, in freshwater, and saltwater, though more often salt. Many tropical mermaids live amongst or close to coral reefs.
Lake mermaids, sometimes known as Freshwater mermaids, live in freshwater, are built for camouflage, and sometimes live partially on land. They can live almost anywhere on the planet, but generally stay in more temperate regions. Freshwater can be found in swamps, ponds, lakes, rivers or creeks.
- Together with your group discuss what you think each of those types of mermaids would look like.
- Find an example of each of the types of water and where they are located on Earth. If you were a mermaid which type would you be, where would you live and why would you choose that type?

- If you could ask mermaid 2 questions what would they be?
*Find out if there is a “real” mermaid friend in your area. Invite them to a meeting to answer a few questions about mermaid life*

- Together with your group, host a mermaid pool party. Wear your best mermaid outfit, play mermaid games and eat mermaid snacks
